While training for a marathon, our dear friend and lover of the outdoors and hunting culture, Terry Hess, died of a massive heart attack in May of 2023. The news was heartbreaking to us as Terry was part of our first Train to Hunt Family, and one of our biggest StHealthy Hunter supporters. He had attended two years of the Western Hunting Summit and was dedicated to educating and spreading his love for Elk hunting.

In 2023 The Lampers began what is now a yearly award: The Terry Hess Award. Those who receive it are picked by the founders after demonstrating their interest in learning at a high level during the events.

Terry’s family continues to be yearly supporters of the WHS and The Terry Hess Award . Just like Terry, we consider them as part of the WHS family and we are honored to keep Terry’s memory alive!
